The Australian Embassy in Indonesia in collaboration with the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI), hosted a public discussion on the evolving strategic landscape of the Indo-Pacific region today in Jakarta.

The event featured Susannah Patton, Director of the Southeast Asia Program at the Lowy Institute, who shared insights into the growing role for middle-power diplomacy and the importance of Australia–Indonesia relations in promoting a stable and resilient region.

Policy experts, academics and students, discussed findings from the newly launched Southeast Asia Influence Index project by Lowy Institute. The dialogue highlighted the shifting patterns of influence across Southeast Asia and the importance of collaborative regional engagement.

“Australia is a reliable partner Southeast Asia can count on. This dialogue is important and timely as we continue to work together with Indonesia in shaping a peaceful, stable and prosperous region,” said Nicola Campion, Minister-Counsellor for Political and Strategic Communications at the Australian Embassy Indonesia.

Ms Patton is visiting Indonesia to participate in the ASEAN Think Tank Summit and the #AussieBanget Roadshow at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, where she engaged with Indonesian academics on regional cooperation.
