Entrepreneurs Unveil Breakthroughs in Plastics Innovation at IPPIN

Prominent Indonesian entrepreneurs presented cutting-edge solutions to plastic waste at the Indo-Pacific Plastics Innovation Network (IPPIN) Indonesia Chapter Demo Day in Jakarta, today. The event brought together entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, and industry leaders to accelerate innovation in plastics management.

Demo Day marks the culmination of the IPPIN Accelerator+ Program supported by the Australian Government and the Alliance to End Plastic Waste and delivered by Australia’s national science agency (CSIRO) in partnership with Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Indonesia’s National Plastics Action Partnership (NPAP), and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek).

“Australia and Indonesia share a deep responsibility for the health of our environment,” said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Rod Brazier. “This Demo Day and our support for the IPPIN Program demonstrates our commitment and action towards plastic waste reduction.”

Co-Chair Non-Government of the Indonesia National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP), Ambassador Wahid Supriyadi stated, “The Indonesia NPAP is working to support the scaling up of high-potential solutions. This is done through connecting innovators as well as entrepreneurs with social impact investors, so we’re delighted to support IPPIN find scalable, impactful solutions,” said, Ambassador Wahid Supriyadi.

CSIRO Director for Southeast Asia, Amelia Fyfield added, “Since 2022, the IPPIN Indonesia Chapter has supported 85 ventures addressing Indonesia’s waste management challenge.”

The IPPIN Indonesia Chapter has provided over Rp 13 billion to support top teams working with partners to demonstrate their solutions at scale in Indonesia, unlocking an additional Rp 13 billion in co-investment from industry and donors. The IPPIN Program has supported 165 ventures Across Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand since 2022.

Among the ventures pitching are:

  • Rebricks – transforming hard-to-recycle plastics into eco-friendly building materials.
  • Daurulang.id – repurposing compost to boost the agricultural sector.
  • Parongpong RAW Lab – collection, recycling, and upcycling through community systems.
