Australian Deputy Ambassador to Indonesia, Gita Kamath, visited Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on 25-27 November 2025 to reinforce Australia’s development and regional security partnership with the province.
Deputy Ambassador Kamath met with Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena to discuss Australia’s cooperation with NTT and mark the commencement of the new Australia Indonesia Partnership for Health Transformation (KITA SEHAT) in the region. KITA SEHAT will support East Nusa Tenggara build inclusive and resilient health systems to boost nutrition, cut stunting, and tackle communicable disease risks across the region. Deputy Ambassador Kamath also met with local development partners to discuss Australia’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development in the province.
Deputy Ambassador Kamath also met with Indonesian agencies responsible for fisheries surveillance, immigration, and law enforcement to discuss cooperation in our joint fight against transnational crime. She also connected with participants of a Border Threats Workshop, delivered by the Australian Border Force, Australian Federal Police and Department of Home Affairs as part of Australia and Indonesia’s practical collaboration to enhance regional border security.
“Partnership is key to tackling issues that we know affect us all. Through close cooperation with Indonesia and the NTT Government, we aim to build a safer, more prosperous future for the region and our two countries,” said Deputy Ambassador Kamath.
