Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2025 Begins in Indonesia

Media Release

4 December 2025

Australia’s flagship regional engagement activity, Indo-Pacific Endeavour (IPE), commences in Indonesia this week with Australian Defence Force personnel arriving in country.

Since its establishment in 2017, IPE supports the Australian Government’s focus on deepening our diplomatic and defence partnerships across Southeast Asia and the Northeast Indian Ocean, and reinforces Australia’s commitment to a peaceful, stable and prosperous region, founded on openness, respect for sovereignty and adherence to agreed rules and norms.

The first engagement will be a Gender, Peace and Security forum followed by two separate maritime law discussions as well as cyber and faith-based engagements.

“It’s a pleasure to spend time with our close neighbours in Indonesia. The enduring friendship between the Indonesian and Australian people is something we deeply value and continue to strengthen. We’re able to conduct a broad range of workshops under IPE 2025, from sharing knowledge on security challenges through to cultural foundations such as faith-based engagements, and community initiatives,” said Commander IPE 2025, BRIG Jennifer Harris, CSC.

IPE 2025 conducted activities with Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, the Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, East Timor, Singapore and Vietnam.

“We look forward to building stronger defence ties, learning from one another, and deepening our close cooperation this week through the Indo-Pacific Endeavour activities. The workshops, jointly organized by ADF and TNI, covered a range of important topics and is expected to reflect the commitment of both countries to work together to address shared challenges in the region,” said RADM Yayan Sofyan, Assistant to the Chief of Indonesian Navy for Operations.
