Applications for the Australia Awards Garuda Scholarships will open on 1 February.
Australia Awards Garuda Scholarships support Indonesian educators and education leaders to undertake Master’s study in education or related fields at Australian universities commencing in 2027.
The scholarships, announced by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the 2025 Annual Leaders’ Meeting are offered by the Australian Government to support Indonesia’s education transformation through the Garuda Schools Program.
“Australia and Indonesia are working together to strengthen education leadership for the next generation,” said Rod Brazier, Australian Ambassador to Indonesia. “These Australia Awards Garuda scholarships support Indonesia’s efforts to deliver world-class Sekolah Garuda by building teaching, learning and leadership capabilities.”
The Australia Awards Garuda Scholarships are primarily targeted at principals and teachers from the designated Sekolah Garuda Transformasi. The scholarships are also open to applicants who are completing or have completed the Teacher Profession Certification and are based in one of the provinces that will be home to the future Sekolah Garuda Baru: East Nusa Tenggara, Bangka Belitung, North Kalimantan and Southeast Sulawesi.
Scholarship recipients will receive a comprehensive support package before departure, during their studies in Australia and after returning to Indonesia as education leaders within the Garuda Schools Program.
To support prospective applicants, Australia Awards and Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology will host online information sessions throughout February and March. These sessions will provide detailed guidance on scholarship benefits, eligibility criteria and the application process.
