Applications Open for the Australia Awards Scholarships

Media Release

30 January 2026

Applications for Australia Awards Postgraduate Scholarships will open on 1 February. These prestigious scholarships, offered by the Australian Government, are for Master’s or PhD study at an Australian university commencing in 2027.

Australia Awards scholarships offer comprehensive benefits, including pre-departure academic and English language preparation, and a range of enrichment and professional development opportunities to support scholars during and after their study in Australia. After graduating, scholars join the large community of impressive and influential Australian alumni in Indonesia.

“Australia Awards scholarships reflect Australia’s long-standing commitment to education cooperation with Indonesia,” said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Rod Brazier. “For more than 70 years, these scholarships have strengthened connections between our people and equipped Indonesia’s future leaders with a world-class education, skills and global networks.”

Applicants for the Australia Awards scholarships are assessed on their professional skills and experience, personal attributes, academic competence, and potential to lead and make a contribution to their organisation and community.

The Australia Awards scholarships are open to Indonesians from diverse backgrounds. Those from equity target groups (including targeted provinces, women from disadvantaged backgrounds, and people with disability) are encouraged to apply.

In preparation for the 2027 intake, Indonesian and Australian Government officials have held a series of outreach and information sessions, including in a range of provinces across Indonesia. Further online information sessions are planned throughout February and March, enabling prospective applicants to learn more about the Australia Awards program.

Applications close on 30 April 2026.
