The Chair of Australia’s Productivity Commission, Ms Danielle Wood, visited Indonesia this week to advance cooperation on economic policy and productivity, in support of the Australia-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP).

“Danielle Wood’s visit is another example of the strong economic policy cooperation between Australia and Indonesia. Visits like Dr Wood’s enhance economic bonds between our countries and help advance prosperity,” said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Rod Brazier.

The visit provided an opportunity to deepen dialogue on shared economic challenges and reform priorities with senior Indonesian policymakers and leading economists, including Indonesia’s Coordinating-Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Vice Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara and members of Indonesia’s National Economic Council.

While in Jakarta, Ms Wood participated in a Women in Economics reception, which highlighted the contribution of women’s leadership in shaping economic policy alongside Dr Masyita Crystallin, Head of Economic and ESG Strategic Positioning of BPI Danantara.

Ms Wood also took part in the #AussieBanget University Roadshow at the University of Indonesia, sharing perspectives on Australia’s economic reform experience alongside prominent Indonesian economists and academics.

“My visit has reinforced how much Australia and Indonesia can learn from each other when it comes to improving productivity and supporting long‑term growth. It has been a pleasure to share the work of Australia’s Productivity Commission and to hear the perspectives of key Indonesian stakeholders,” said Ms Wood.

As part of the University roadshow, students also learned about opportunities for further study at information booths hosted by the Australia Awards Scholarships and five Australian universities: Adelaide University, the University of Melbourne, the University of Queensland, the University of Sydney, and the University of New South Wales.
