Festival Sinema Australia Indonesia 2026: Showcasing Australian and Indonesian Creativity on Screen

Media Release

22 April 2026

The Festival Sinema Australia Indonesia (FSAI) is set to return in 2026, bringing the best of contemporary Australian and Indonesian cinema to audiences across eleven cities throughout Indonesia.

“FSAI brings Australian and Indonesian stories directly to Indonesian audiences, strengthening cultural understanding through film and celebrating our growing creative industry partnerships,” said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Rod Brazier.

The festival will open with Kangaroo, a family drama-comedy set against the backdrop of the Australian Outback, offering a warm and engaging story that highlights the importance of community and connection.

This year also marks the first time FSAI will host a ‘Screen on the Green’, an open-air cinema experience at Kebun Raya Bogor, offering audiences a new way to enjoy film in a beautiful garden setting.

In Jakarta, Manado, Makassar, Semarang, Medan, Surabaya, Banjarmasin, Bogor, Yogyakarta, Kupang, and Mataram, FSAI 2026 will present five Australian films and two Indonesia–Australia alumni films, alongside four Indonesian short films created by alumni of the Australian Alumni Awards short film programs.

In addition, the festival will deliver a series of masterclasses in cinematography and documentary film production, led by Australian film experts, including Andrew Commis, cinematographer of The Force of Nature: The Dry 2 (screening at the festival), and Associate Professor Michelle Johnston from Curtin University.

Tickets to film screenings and events are free of charge with limited seats available. Details at: fsai.id
