Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Rod Brazier, visited Bandung, West Java Province, on 30 April 2026.
During the visit, Ambassador Brazier met with the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, to discuss the potential for deeper cooperation in health and education.
Together with Telkom University Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Planning, Parman Sukarno, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Ambassador Brazier also launched the #AussieBanget corner at Telkom University, a space for students to explore the Australia-Indonesia relationship, Australian culture and opportunities for further study, research and collaboration.
Ambassador Brazier also visited the Deakin Lancaster university campus, a joint UK-Australia international campus officially opened in 2025. Ambassador Brazier met with Deakin University Vice Chancellor Iain Martin and witnessed the signing of several new agreements between the university and Indonesian institutions including Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS).
“I’m delighted to return to Bandung, which is such a vibrant, creative city,” said Ambassador Brazier. “Australia is working closely with government, business, academia and civil society to deepen our connections here, particularly through our extensive higher education partnerships.”
To celebrate the close and enduring bonds between the people of Australia and Indonesia, Ambassador Brazier also hosted a reception for Australian alumni and met with Australian Defence Force personnel currently studying and working at TNI Command and Staff Colleges located near Bandung.
