The Australian Embassy in Indonesia presents “Two Nations in Harmony: An Australia–Indonesia Concert Ensemble”, a special performance bringing together the internationally acclaimed Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) String Quartet, with Indonesian composer Vishnu Satyagraha in Jakarta on 9 July.
The concert blends Western classical music with Indonesian traditions and features original works by University of Melbourne alumnus Vishnu Satyagraha, including Yarra Code and Aluna Digdaya, inspired by communities in Australia and Indonesia.
“Music has the power to bring people together across cultures, and this concert highlights the strength of our partnership through shared creativity and collaboration,” said Australian Chargé d’Affaires to Indonesia, Gita Kamath.
“Over the past decade, MSO has built strong partnerships in Indonesia, demonstrating Australia’s commitment to meaningful collaboration, creative excellence, and the exchange of knowledge and skills.”
MSO’s decade-long engagement with Indonesia has been fostered by MoUs with the Yogyakarta Special Region Cultural Department and the Yogyakarta Royal Orchestra, which reflect both countries’ deep and enduring commitment to cultural exchange and people-to-people connections.
As part of its program in Jakarta, MSO will also deliver a “Leadership in Arts” session ahead of continuing its visit in Yogyakarta. The visit is also supported by the Australia-Indonesia Institute and the Victorian Government.
