Today, Brisbane Roar Football Club players Oscar Page and Dimitri Valkanis hosted a soccer clinic for students from MTs Yasda - which is part of the Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE school exchange program.
Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Rod Brazier said sport creates opportunities for young people and communities to connect across cultures.
“BRIDGE brings Australian and Indonesian schools together, and it’s wonderful to see our Brisbane Roar players engaging on the soccer field with BRIDGE students. Whether in the classroom or through sport, these exchanges help build friendships, broaden perspectives and strengthen the relationship between our two countries," Ambassador Brazier said.
The event is part of Brisbane Roar FC's pre-season tour of Indonesia from 27 to 29 August, during which the club will have matches with Dewa United and sister club Persija Jakarta. The match against Persija, a club with shared ownership ties to Brisbane Roar, reflects the growing connections between Australian and Indonesian football.
The Brisbane Roar visit showcases the expanding football relationship between Australia and Indonesia. From grassroots participation and youth development to elite competition and club partnerships, football continues to create new opportunities for collaboration between our two countries.
