Australian industry leaders are visiting Jakarta from 14-18 September to promote Australian food ingredients and strengthen partnerships with Indonesia during Food Ingredients Asia (Fi Asia) 2026.
With food and beverage turnover estimated at approximately A$422 billion and growing, Indonesia is a priority market for Australian food ingredients. The visit showcased Australian capability in grains, pulses, legumes, oats, almonds and other functional ingredients. These new commercial partnership opportunities align with the Indonesian Government’s food security priorities.
Delegates from Grains Australia, the Grains and Legumes Nutrition Council and the Almond Board of Australia met with Indonesian ingredient importers, food manufacturers and industry associations to explore collaboration opportunities.
“Australia and Indonesia share a strong agrifood partnership, underpinned by complementary capabilities and shared food security priorities. This visit is connecting businesses from both countries and creating practical opportunities for long-term collaboration focused on food ingredients,” said Catherine Gallagher, Head of Austrade Southeast Asia.
At the Australian Ingredients Advantage seminar at Fi Asia, delegates highlighted how Australian ingredients can support reformulation, nutrition-focused products, clean-label development and innovation across the food and beverage sector.
“Australian grain-based ingredients offer versatile solutions for Indonesian manufacturers developing nutritious, functional and value-added products, while supporting growing consumer demand for healthier and more sustainable food choices,” said Lachlan Evans, Trade and Market Access Manager, Grains Australia.
Grains Australia and the Almond Board of Australia are Trade Diversification Network (TDN) members under the Accessing New Markets Initiative (ANMI). Through the TDN, the Australian Government and industry work together to help Australian exporters enter and grow in markets such as Indonesia.
