More than 40 Indonesian Government representatives from across Indonesia gathered with the Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program educators at the Australian Embassy Jakarta for the annual BRIDGE Education Stakeholder Engagement Meeting.
Keynote speakers Ibu Suharti, Secretary-General of Indonesia’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education; Dr Abdul Basid, Head of the Curriculum and Evaluation Subdirectorate, Directorate of KSKK Madrasah at the Ministry of Religious Affairs; and Thea Stinear, CEO of Cool+ Australia, discussed climate change challenges facing Indonesia and Australia.
“The BRIDGE program builds connections between schools and communities in Australia and Indonesia. Today’s event highlighted how BRIDGE is giving teachers and students the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of our shared climate change challenges and apply that learning through practical activities,” said Chloe Ashbolt, the Australian Embassy’s Counsellor for Public Affairs.
Funded by the Australian Government, the Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program builds partnerships between Indonesian and Australian teachers, students and school communities, while providing educators with opportunities to develop new knowledge and skills.
Since it began in 2008, BRIDGE has established 263 school partnerships across 18 provinces in Indonesia and all states and territories in Australia.
