Media Release

22 October 2026

Today, Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator the Hon Penny Wong and Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, HE Dr. Airlangga Hartarto officially launched the second phase of the Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Economic Development, Prospera, 2026–2035.

Indonesian Minister of Finance, Suahasil Nazara, also joined the launch event alongside more than 100 senior local officials and other Prospera partners and friends.

Australian Foreign Affairs Minister, the Hon Penny Wong, said that the next phase of Prospera reflects that enduring spirit of cooperation.

“The next phase of Prospera – the Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Economic Development – renews our support for Indonesia’s economic ambitions. Totalling $420 million over the next decade, it builds on 30 years of Australian support for Indonesia’s economic development,” said Minister Wong.

“The Government of Indonesia welcomes the second phase of PROSPERA and acknowledges its continued cooperation with Australia in the area of economic policy. Going forward, the partnership is expected to take into account Indonesia’s development priorities and economic objectives,” said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

Prospera brings together more than 30 Indonesian and Australian government agencies, building on a long tradition of both nations working together to overcome challenges and crises, identifying new economic opportunities, and promoting shared prosperity.

In the next 10 years, Prospera will continue to expand bilateral cooperation to bolster economic resilience in both Australia and Indonesia. It will also support Indonesia’s strong, sustainable and inclusive economic growth, contribute to Indonesia’s efforts to accede to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and help increase economic opportunities, including for women and people with disabilities.
