Australian contemporary fashion designer Shiva Yousefpour (SHIYO), showcased alongside Indonesian designers Angelita Nurhadi (Studio Jeje) and Astrid Nadia (ANW) at the Australian Runway Showcase, highlighting the creative connections between Australia and Indonesia at Jakarta Fashion Week 2027.
Presented by the Australian Embassy in Jakarta in partnership with Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW), the showcase was the final stage of the Australia-Indonesia Creative Exchange Program, which connected Australian and Indonesian designers through professional exchange and cultural dialogue.
Through the creative exchange, Indonesian designers Studio Jeje and ANW travelled to Australia earlier this year to participate in Melbourne Fashion Festival, building industry networks and exchanging ideas with Australian counterparts.
At Jakarta Fashion Week last Sunday, they showcased collections inspired by their Australian experience alongside SHIYO's contemporary designs, which champion sustainability and innovation. The showcase reflected the creative partnerships fostered through the exchange and a shared commitment to sustainability, innovation and cultural storytelling.
"Fashion creates opportunities for people-to-people connections, cultural exchange and new partnerships. This program has enabled Australian and Indonesian designers to share ideas, learn from one another and showcase the strength of our creative industries," said acting Deputy Ambassador Nicola Campion.
Beyond the runway, SHIYO also delivered a designer talk with the RMIT School of Fashion and Textiles, sharing insights on sustainable fashion, circular design and waste reduction with Indonesian designers, students and industry professionals.
The Creative Exchange Program builds on the Australian Embassy's longstanding partnership with Jakarta Fashion Week and reflects a shared commitment to fostering innovation, sustainability and people-to-people links between Australia and Indonesia through the creative industries.
