Tourism Australia launches Indonesian-language official website for consumers

Australia.com, Tourism Australia’s official website for consumers, is now available in the Indonesian language. Visitors just need to use the country and language selectors on the Australia.com home page to see locally relevant content in Bahasa Indonesia.

For the year ending 31 March 2010, Australia saw over 114,500 visitors from Indonesia, an impressive increase of 24% from the previous year, despite a challenging year including the Global Financial Crisis and H1N1 scare.

“The holidaymaker and business events segments from Indonesia remain strong, contributing to the steady performance of arrivals from Indonesia into Australia,” said Maggie White, Regional General Manager, South/Southeast Asia and Gulf Countries, Tourism Australia. She adds, “We believe that having Australia.com available in the Indonesian language will help inspire more Indonesians to visit Australia. Tourism Australia will continue to work closely with airline partners and Aussie Specialist travel agent partners to ensure the availability of attractive travel options for Indonesian consumers.”

Tourism Research Australia’s Tourism Forecasting Committee predicts in their 2009 forecast that arrivals from Indonesia are expected to perform well within an average annual growth rate of 7.8% through to the year 2018.

An Aussie Specialist is a travel agent belonging to a network of retail travel agencies that are specialised in promoting and selling Australia as a holiday destination. These ‘Aussie experts’ have received destination and product training from Tourism Australia via its Aussie Specialist Programme.
