Scholarship Opportunities for Research and Professional Development in Australia

Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Bill Farmer, is pleased to announce applications are now open for the 2009 Endeavour Awards.

The Endeavour Awards program is an internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program providing opportunities for high-achieving students, researchers and professionals from Asia-Pacific countries, including Indonesia to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia in a broad range of disciplines.

“Each year Australia hosts a new group of Endeavour Award recipients from Indonesia who build enduring professional and personal networks with Australian scholars, which continue long after they have returned to Indonesia,” said Farmer.

“This leads to strong and ongoing ties between our two countries.”

The opportunities available for Indonesian scholars, researchers and professionals include: Endeavour Postgraduate Awards, Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Research Fellowships, Endeavour Research Fellowships, Endeavour Executive Awards, and Endeavour Vocational Education and Training (VET) Awards.

Last year 30 Indonesians received Endeavour Awards to study in Australia.

“We encourage Indonesian scholars and professionals to apply and certainly hope there will be more Indonesians receiving the awards in 2009,” said Farmer.

Applications for the 2009 Endeavour Awards close on 31 July 2008 and further information can be obtained from the website: www.endeavour.dest.gov.au

The Endeavour Awards program is part of the Australian Government’s scholarships initiative which also includes the Australian Leadership Awards and Australian Development Scholarships.

Australia is also calling for applicants for the 2009 Australian Leadership Awards Scholarships which opened earlier this month.
