Voting is underway for the best Australian and Indonesian digital art entries in the #ModCon2016 competition. The shortlist of ten entries is now on show at the Historia Café as part of the Kota Tua Creative Festival.
Two artists, one Indonesian and one Australian, will win a trip to the other country where they’ll meet professional artists and participate in a series of workshops.
Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Paul Grigson said the winners of ModCon will be determined by public voting on the Australian Embassy’s Instagram account (@KedubesAustralia). More than 2000 votes have already been cast for the artwork and videos.
“The ModCon installation showcases the great creativity, imagination and technical skill of Indonesian and Australian digital artists. The great diversity of the entries reflects a vibrant culture in each country and a desire to tell a story with icons and images from popular culture and everyday experiences,” Ambassador Grigson said.
Kota Tua Creative Festival Director, Daliana Suryawinata said: “We’re proud to have the Australian Embassy’s first digital arts competition showcased at the Kota Tua Creative Festival.”
Winners of the ModCon competition will be announced at Gudang Sarinah, Jakarta on Saturday 15 October 2016. The event is part of Ruangrupa’s Jakarta 32ºC Festival.
