Festival Sinema Australia Indonesia (FSAI) is celebrating a decade of promoting Australian and Indonesian films as it returns from 15 May to 14 June 2025.
The festival showcases the best of Australian and Indonesian films to audiences in ten cities across Indonesia – Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Padang, Surabaya, Semarang, Denpasar, Mataram, Manado and Makassar.
Since its launch in 2016, FSAI has been bringing audiences together through the universal language of film. In its 10th year, the festival proudly presents five Australian feature films, two Indonesian films featuring Australian alumni and a selection of short films created by Indonesian filmmakers who participated in an Australia Awards short course on film production earlier this year.
“Festival Sinema Australia Indonesia 2025 showcases the expertise and creativity of the Australian and Indonesian film industries to audiences across Indonesia,” said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Rod Brazier. “For ten years, this festival has been a powerful platform for promoting connections and understanding between our two countries.”
The festival will open with the Indonesian premiere of The Dry, a gripping mystery drama thriller about the investigation of a local tragedy in an outback town, uncovering dark secrets that threaten to unravel the entire community. Also featured in this year’s lineup is Heartbreak Motel, a film that explores themes of love, loss and redemption, based on the bestselling novel written by Indonesian writer and Australian alumna, Ika Natassa.
FSAI 2025 also offers interactive masterclasses led by Australian film experts. Topics include scriptwriting, film directing and creating immersive screen experiences.
Tickets to film screenings and events are free of charge with limited seats available. Details at: FSAI.ID
